The Swiss Confederation is preparing a new humanitarian aid package for Ukrainians. The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Facebook, following his meeting with President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis in Kyiv on Oct. 20, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“An important visit by President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis against the background of Russia’s massive missile attacks. We appreciate such a brave show of support,” Shmyhal wrote.

In his words, Russian terrorists are deliberately striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“On the part of the Government, we are doing everything we can to maintain the stability of power, heat and drinking water supplies for the population,” Shmyhal noted.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed gratitude to partners for their support, namely Switzerland. According to Shmyhal, the Lugano Conference became the starting point for the international dialogue on Ukraine’s recovery.

“In a week, we will continue our work on immediate and post-war reconstruction at the scientific and expert level in Berlin,” Shmyhal added.

On Oct. 20, 2022, Ukraine and Switzerland also signed agreements on cooperation in the field of searching for missing persons.

In 2022-2023, the Swiss side is planning to supply special forensic equipment to contribute to the identification activities of the State Scientific Research Expert Forensic Center.
