“Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day,” Zelensky said, emphasizing that the story of Christ’s resurrection symbolizes the ultimate triumph of life over suffering and death.
“Today, these words resonate in every Ukrainian heart. And they strengthen our faith, which, in spite of everything, has not faded for 1,152 days of full-scale war,” Zelensky said.
The president acknowledged the pain and grief felt by many as the country continues to endure regular Russian strikes. He referenced the attacks in Sumy, Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, and other cities, where civilian areas, including children’s playgrounds have been targeted.
But, in the face of suffering, Zelensky urged his countrymen to look to one another for strength.
“When your mind can’t find answers, you begin to listen to your heart,” he said. “And something unseen, yet so strong, inside you, keeps you from giving up.”
Zelensky also emphasized the collective values of the Ukrainian people – will, endurance, compassion, and humanity – which he sees as the foundation of the nation’s strength. “Compassion and humanity. That is what God is. That is His presence. He is in our people. And that is why – there is light in people. That is why there is strength in people.

Zelensky’s speech also included prayers for those serving on the front lines, the prisoners of war, and those helping to rebuild the nation. He called for God’s protection over all Ukrainians, especially those who dedicate their lives to protecting and healing others.
“We are united in this. Every day – and especially today, when Ukrainians of all Christian denominations celebrate Easter on the same date. Together,” he said, affirming the collective spirit of the Ukrainian people.
Zelensky concluded with an optimistic vision for Ukraine’s future: an eventual day of peace.
“May the day of life arrive. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for centuries.”
