“Everything recorded by Ukrainian journalists is our truth about this war and evidence of Russian crimes,” Zelensky stated. “It is important that this work is of high quality and contributes to accountability for all of Russia’s crimes and strikes against life.”
The president extended specific gratitude to foreign media personnel who continue to report from the ground, noting that their sustained presence prevents global audiences from becoming desensitized to the conflict. Zelensky underscored that this continuous coverage directly supports Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to secure defense and economic assistance at the international political level.
Preserving the realities of conflict
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) also released a statement recognizing the hazardous conditions media workers face daily. The agency noted that reporters routinely operate under active artillery shelling on the front lines and at the scenes of missile strikes in residential neighborhoods to speak with displaced civilians.

According to the SBU, these specific frames, voices, and texts ensure that the raw reality of the conflict does not disappear from public view, transforming daily reporting into permanent legal and historical evidence.
Lieutenant General Oleh Ivashchenko, head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense (HUR), characterized Ukrainian media professionals as the “creators of the future and the global voice of the state.”
“In a time of great war, Ukrainian media workers are at the cutting edge of history – where the fate of people, our state, the fate of Europe, and the entire free world is decided,” Ivashchenko noted.
The intelligence chief expressed gratitude to journalists for analyzing complex events, identifying the truth, and actively confronting hostile propaganda campaigns.
A central theme across all three official statements was the solemn commemoration of media workers who have lost their lives during the full-scale invasion. President Zelensky and Lieutenant General Ivashchenko both urged the public to honor the memory and protect the legacy of the reporters, photographers, and technicians who were killed while performing their professional duties to preserve the historical record.
