Chris Sampson is a photo and video journalist based in Kyiv and serves as Editor-in-Chief of National Security Media, an independent Ukraine-based news cooperative outlet. His work documents Russia’s war against Ukraine, with a particular focus on prisoners of war, life under occupation, partisan resistance, disinformation, and the defense industry. Before the full-scale invasion, he led research at a counterterrorism firm, specializing in ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Russian foreign policy. He is the co-author of Hacking ISIS and contributed as lead researcher to several New York Times bestsellers about terrorism and Russia.
