What happens in this new Kyiv hotel, stays in this hotel. Cherry Twins, a hotel built especially to have sex in, has eight themed rooms with different designs and toys, and its owners promise full confidentiality.

The so-called love hotel officially opens on March 17, but is already taking bookings.

While popular abroad since the 1960s, when the famous Hotel Love opened in Osaka, Japan, sex hotels are a new discovery for Ukraine.

“It’s always the time for sexual fantasies,” Elena Soloviova, the founder of Cherry Twins, told the Kyiv Post.

The hotel doesn’t offer its guests any sexual services, which would be illegal in Ukraine, but provides with rooms decorated to suit some of the most common sexual fantasies, she says.

Soloviova decided to start the business because, as she says, commercial success can only be reached if the provided service is unique or very much in demand.

She says that the idea of a love hotel is “new, unique and interesting” for Ukraine.

Although sex is still a rather taboo topic in Ukrainian society, Soloviova believes that it’s time to change that.

“I wish Ukrainian couples were more liberated and free-minded,” she said.

Fantasies come true

Cherry Twins is a three-story building that includes a bar, a sex shop and eight rooms.

Each room has a set of toys guests can freely use, such as handcuffs and legcuffs, masks and stacks (a small whip or riding crop). The sex shop also sells more intimate toys that are not included in the price of a room.

The rooms were designed in cooperation with sexologists and each one of them corresponds to a certain psychological type.

The hotel offers rooms that resemble the places people fantasize about most often, such as a doctor’s office, a school class, a fancy boudoir and a harem.

There are also three options for BDSM adepts: “Domination” (a red-and-black room with a bench for flogging and a bed with restraints), a “Gothic Castle” and a “Torture Chamber” with a cage bed and a pain table.

There is also a room with a jacuzzi that can either be rented separately or in addition to another one.

The minimum amount of time required for renting a room is three hours, which will cost from Hr 1,500 to Hr 2,000. Every additional hour adds Hr 500–600 to the price. A whole night from 9 p. m. till 9 a. m. will cost Hr 5,000–6,000.

Rules and standards

Due to the delicate service provided by the hotel, Cherry Twins has set some strict rules for visitors.

The hotel is not responsible for what happens between the guests in the rooms. However, they forbid the provision or receiving of paid sexual services.
Although according to Ukrainian law, the age of consent to sexual acts is 16, guests of the love hotel have to be at least 21. Soloviova says that Cherry Twins sets a higher age restriction because there are BDSM gadgets and devices in rooms, and they want to make sure that all visits are voluntary and consensual.

The building has security guards. After every visit, the rooms, furniture and toys are sterilized.

Cherry Twins also guarantees confidentiality to all clients: Those who desire to stay completely anonymous can put on masks.

Although the love hotel hasn’t opened yet, rooms are now available for booking.

Soloviova says that they have already had the first reservations and many are eager to visit the hotel.

“People want emotions,” she said.

And judging by the experiences of Ukrainians who have used such a service abroad, Soloviova may be right.

Photographer Pavlo Kosenko visited a love hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the suggestion of his Brazilian girlfriend.

He says that there was a large bed, TV channels with porn and some wooden furniture for “changing positions.”

“I will remember that morning as one full of love and harmony,” he told the Kyiv Post.

Kosenko, 30, believes that opening a love hotel in Ukraine is a great idea and hopes it won’t be vulgarized by those looking for paid sex.

He says it should be a way for couples “to expand their sexual diet.”
