Fires broke out in two districts of Ukraine’s capital following a Russian drone attack overnight, injuring at least two people, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported.

Writing on Telegram early Saturday, Klitschko said non-residential buildings in the Sviatoshynskyi district caught fire, while a private home was ablaze in the Darnytskyi district. Emergency services were dispatched to both scenes.

Klitschko later reported that another fire had erupted in the Sviatoshynskyi district after debris from a downed drone fell in the area.

“One person is currently injured. Medical personnel are providing assistance,” he wrote.

In Darnytskyi, the mayor said the drone debris destroyed a private home, though no casualties were reported there.

Later updates from Klitschko confirmed that two people were injured in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Both were receiving medical treatment.

The drone attack, reportedly carried out using Iranian-made Shahed drones, also targeted the southern port city of Odesa, where explosions were heard overnight, according to earlier local reports.

In an interview with Kyiv Post, Russian regional activist Daniil Chebykin said the war in Ukraine is reshaping life across Russia, far from the front lines. He described growing restrictions, declining access to independent information, and a major increase in desertion. Chebykin also warned that Moscow’s rhetoric toward neighboring countries, including Armenia, reflects broader concerns over influence and control.

The assault is the latest in a series of nighttime strikes on Ukrainian cities as Russia continues its campaign targeting infrastructure and civilian areas.
