Passenger traffic for the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint between Ukraine and Poland will be restricted starting Tuesday, April 22, due to ongoing repair works.

The checkpoint, approximately 76 kilometers (47 miles) west of Lviv, will close one of its exit lanes starting 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with the repair work scheduled to be completed by May 10.

“From April 22, 2025, from 10:00, repair and reconstruction work will begin at the Shehyni checkpoint. This will limit the exit from Ukraine for passenger vehicles. In particular, one of the exit lanes will not work, which may affect the formation of queues,” Ukraine’s State Border Service announced in a Tuesday Telegram update.

Travelers frequently use the checkpoint, as it is situated close to the Polish city of Przemyśl, one of the region’s key transit hubs.

Travelers are advised to opt for alternative checkpoints in the Lviv region, such as the Rava-Ruska-Khrebenne, Smilnytsia-Krostsenko, Uhryniv-Dołhobyczow, Nyzhankovychi-Malkhovitse and Hrushiv-Budomierz checkpoints.

The estimated waiting time at the checkpoints is available on Ukraine’s State Customs Service’s website.

Alternatively, travelers can also exit Ukraine using checkpoints in other regions bordering Poland, such as the Ustyluh-Zosin checkpoint in Ukraine’s Volyn region.
