Russia launched a massive overnight air attack on several Ukrainian cities early Saturday, killing and injuring civilians and damaging homes, infrastructure, and businesses.
The strikes hit Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kamianske and Shostka. Ukrainian officials said the assault involved missiles, drones, and guided bombs in what they called a “combined attack.”

Dnipro Hit by Missiles and Drones
Russian forces fired missiles and sent drones into Dnipro and the surrounding Dnipropetrovsk region, officials said.
Governor Serhii Lysak said Ukrainian air defenses shot down seven missiles and 26 drones, but some still hit their targets.
One man was killed and a woman was injured in Dnipro when a high-rise apartment building was hit. Fires broke out across the city, including at a parking lot where several cars burned. Industrial facilities and roads were also damaged.
In the region, a shopping center caught fire, and dry grass burned in several areas. One more person died, and four were injured.
Russia also hit the Pokrovska community in the Synelnykove district with guided bombs, starting a fire. An FPV drone hit the Nikopol district, and the city of Marhanets was also targeted.
Kharkiv Rocked by Over 20 Strikes
Explosions in Kharkiv began around 1:30 a.m. and lasted for nearly three hours. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the city was hit by four guided bombs, two ballistic missiles, and 15 Shahed drones.
The strikes damaged apartment buildings, a civilian business, and roads. Fires broke out in several parts of the city.
Resilience Within Music
Five people were injured, including three emergency workers. They were hurt during a double-tap strike while helping at the scene of the first blast.
“The enemy is targeting those who are saving lives. This is pure terrorism,” Terekhov said.
Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has been suffering from continued Russian attacks over the last several days.
On Friday, July 25, a Russian airstrike hit a medical clinic in Kharkiv, killing one person and injuring at least 14 others, including a 12-year-old girl. The attack was carried out with a guided aerial bomb, known as a KAB.
According to early reports from the regional prosecutor’s office, the bomb was a UMPB D-5 – a newer type of guided bomb – dropped from a Russian Su-34 jet flying from Russia’s Belgorod region.
The new bomb weighs about 250 kilograms (550 pounds), is made with thicker metal than older models, and causes more damage, prosecutors said.
Just a day earlier, another Russian strike hit central Kharkiv, injuring at least 33 people, including four children. That attack, also involving two guided bombs, struck the city’s Shevchenkivskyi district – one bomb hit a civilian business, while the other exploded near an apartment building, setting 15 parked cars on fire.
Shostka in Sumy Region Also Attacked
In the northern city of Shostka, Russian forces used drones, missiles, and guided bombs in a night-time attack.
Three people – two women and a man – were hospitalized with burns and shrapnel wounds, said Sumy region governor Oleh Hryhorov.
The attack caused fires in four private homes and damaged apartment buildings and infrastructure. An emergency response center has been set up to help residents.
Shostka has been hit several times this month. On July 14, two people were killed and four others — including a 7-year-old boy — were wounded in a similar attack.
