Epicenter Agro, a subsidiary of Ukraineʼs largest retail group Epicenter K, іs building a grain terminal on the Black Sea coast with the family of Ukrainian lawmaker Anatoliy Urbansky.

The terminal is expected to open next year.

The terminal at Pivdennyi Port in southern Ukraine’s Odesa region will handle 5 million tons of grain annually, with silos capable of storing 250,000 tons.

The project was first announced by Epicenter K CEO Petro Mykhailyshyn in November 2024. In April 2025, Svitlana Nikityuk, head of the group’s agricultural division, confirmed the plans.

This year, Cyprus-based Casablanca Shipping Limited, owned by Epicenter K, acquired 32.61% of Promtekhinovatsiya, an Odesa-based company. The remaining shares belong to the Urbansky family, Latifundist reported, based on a project document available to the media outlet.

According to last year’s project, Promtekhinovatsiya leases about 32 hectares in the waters of Pivdennyi port and near the local highway. The site is large enough to host rail and truck unloading stations near the highway, with grain transported via a conveyor gallery to the silos and then to the terminal.

The project also includes a dedicated 10-hectare rail station, capable of processing up to 3 million tons per year and handling five freight trains daily, each with 50 to 70 railcars. The rail unloading station will operate at 2,000 tons per hour, while a separate truck unloading station will have a capacity of 1,000 tons per hour, according to Latifundist.

Estonia to Host 2027 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Tallinn

Estonia has announced it will host the next Ukraine Recovery Conference in Tallinn in 2027, taking over from Poland following the conclusion of the 2026 summit in Gdańsk.

From the unloading stations, grain will move through a 1.6 km (1 mile) enclosed conveyor that moves grain from unloading stations to storage silos. Around 50 silos, located on 10 hectares, will provide 250,000 tons of storage capacity.

The port facilities will feature a 350-meter berth with a 16-meter depth. Two tower cranes, each with a capacity of 1,500 tons per hour, will load agricultural products onto vessels.

All handling, storage, and transshipment equipment will be owned by Promtekhinovatsiya.

Who is Anatoliy Urbansky?

Anatoliy Urbansky, whose family members are co-investors in the project according to Latifundist, is a Ukrainian lawmaker elected in 2019 as an independent candidate from the Odesa region.

He is part of the “For the Future” parliamentary group in Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, and serves on the Budget Committee, Ukrainian political analytics group Chesno reported.

In 2021, his asset declaration listed ownership of 4,256 bitcoins, worth about Hr.6.7 billion at the time (about $162 million) and $485 million as of August 2025.

The Urbansky family controls access to the port but has no agricultural production, making their partnership with Epicenter K a strategic alliance, several sources familiar with the deal told Latifundist.
