Kyiv hosted its second National Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Aug. 26, drawing more than 1,000 participants from over 50 countries, with US envoy Keith Kellogg stressing President Donald Trump’s commitment to peace.

Kellogg’s presence was seen as a signal of Washington’s continued support for Kyiv amid Russia’s ongoing war, as the event – held under the patronage of President Volodymyr Zelensky – brought together clergy, senior officials, military personnel, families of fallen soldiers, and international guests in a show of unity.

During the event, Kyiv Post journalist Kateryna Zakharchenko had the opportunity to personally thank Kellogg for US assistance to Ukraine and ask him about America’s further role in strengthening Ukrainian security.

Kellogg said that US President Donald Trump “is truly a president of peace” who seeks to end destruction and loss of life. He also said that work toward the peaceful settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine is ongoing.

The prayer breakfast was held at the Mystetskyi Arsenal and concluded a global 24-hour prayer initiative that began on Aug. 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The gathering brought together clergy, senior Ukrainian officials, military personnel, families of fallen soldiers, international guests, and charitable organizations. Despite being invited, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) did not join the common prayer.
