Russian Air Strikes Wound at Least 46 Civilians in Kharkiv

A Russian missile strike wounded at least 46 people in the Kharkiv region overnight, its governor said in the early morning hours of Wednesday.

It was the third such attack on the eastern region in three days.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov said at least 32 people were wounded in the latest overnight attack, including two children and an 18-year-old girl.

“A 9-year-old girl was wounded in the enemy shelling of Kharkiv. Doctors are providing the child with all necessary assistance,” he wrote on Telegram. A 13-year-old girl was also wounded, and six people were hospitalized.

Syniehubov said the city’s neighborhoods of Slobidsky and Osnoviansky were hit by 11 drones, causing fires in a nine-story building and damaging cars, garages and a supermarket.

Local government sources said some four dozen people were evacuated from the area, including three children, from the smoke-filled entrance of a high-rise building.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov later clarified that Russian forces struck the city with 19 “Shahed” drones, though one failed to detonate.

“We have 46 wounded, including two girls (aged 9 and 13). Some people are hospitalized with shrapnel wounds - doctors are providing them with all necessary assistance,” he posted.

According to Terekhov, surveying of the affected areas is ongoing, and the total damage is likely to increase. So far, 40 homes have been hit across two districts, and 3,145 windows have been shattered.
