Kyiv Post correspondents heard explosions around the capital on Monday afternoon, as Russian air strikes were recorded in Kyiv and across the country. At the same time, US legislators have called for changes to the Kremlin-friendly 28-point peace plan backed by US President Donald Trump and to which Kyiv and Europe have been working to provide amendments.
The Ukrainian Air Force said ballistic missiles hit Kyiv on Monday evening, and energy ministry said a “massive” attack targeting power facilities was underway early Tuesday, as the military reported a barrage of drones and missiles fired at Kyiv and other civilian and energy targets around the country.

“At the moment, a massive combined enemy attack on energy infrastructure facilities is underway,” the energy ministry posted on Telegram.” Energy workers will begin assessing the consequences and carrying out restoration work as soon as the security situation allows.”
As schools in Odesa continue to operate without electricity, the head of that southern region’s State Administration, Oleh Kipper, said that “A decision has been made to switch some schools to a blended learning format tomorrow. Those that have generators, and most schools do, will continue to operate offline (editor’s note). In other words, the decision will be made by the principals. Where necessary, schools will switch to distance learning but most schools will remain open.”

Meanwhile, as US President Donald Trump desperately seeks an armistice that he hopes will earn him an elusive Nobel Peace Prize, the White House said on Monday evening that Kyiv has expressed “zero gratitude” for US leadership during the nearly four-year unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to researchers at CNN’s “Out Front With Erin Burnett” program, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said “thank you” to the United States “at least 78 times” in interviews, Burnett reported on Monday night, refuting the White House’s messaging.
On Burnett’s program, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) said the White House’s 28-year-old peace plan proposal “sounds Russian, looks Russian and smells Russian, and we will not accept a deal that’s good for Russia,” he said.
“The message to Americans is don’t give in here, we are willing to stand up to Russia,” said the Congressman and US Marine Corps veteran.
