On May 8th, Ukraine marks the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, honoring the memory of all the victims of World War II, between 1939 and 1945. Russia, meanwhile, stubbornly celebrates Victory Day on May 9, marking its defeat of Hitler’s Nazi Germany. Some may draw interesting parallels between the two WWII-era enemies.
