In the Sloviansk, Bakhmut, and Avdiyivka directions, Ukrainian defenders stopped the advance of the Russian invaders, forcing them to retreat.

This is according to an update released on Facebook on Aug. 28 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

“The situation has undergone no significant changes in the Volyn, Polissia, and Siversky directions. In order to show off their presence and constrain the actions of the Ukrainian defense forces, the enemy opened fire at the Bilopillia district of Sumy region,” the report says.

In the Kharkiv direction, enemy barrel and jet artillery fired at the areas of Kharkiv, Peremoha, Protopopivka, Husarivka, Slatine, Ivanivka, Petrivka, Ruska Lozova, Sosnivka, and Velyki Prohody. Airstrikes were reported near Husarivka and Pervomaiske.

In the Sloviansk direction, Russian barrel artillery and multiple rocket systems were active in the areas of Dovhenke, Kurulka, Adamivka, Dolyna, Brazhkivka, Dibrivne Bohorodychne, Krasnopillia, and Kostyantynivka. The enemy tried to run assault operations toward Dovhenke and Bohorodychne, but had no success, being forced to retreat.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russians pursued artillery shelling of the areas near Sloviansk, Verkhniokamyansk, and Siversk.

In the Bakhmut direction, the areas of Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Soledar, Shumy, Vesela Dolyna, Yakovlivka, Mayorsk, and Zaytseve were hit by tank, barrel artillery, and MLRS fire. Enemy aircraft struck the area near Kodema.
As noted, the enemy tried to conduct an offensive toward Vershina, Kodema, Semihirya, and Zaytseve. Ukrainian defenders stopped the assault, pushing the invaders back.

In the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy shelled the areas of Nevelske, Vodiane, Orlivka, Novo-oleksandrivka, Vesele, New York, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Pervomaiske, employing tanks, as well as barrel and jet artillery. Airstrikes were reported near Valentynivka and Vodiane. The enemy offensive in the direction of Lozove – Pervomaiske saw a fierce repulse and resulted in the Russians retreating.

In the direction of Novopavlivka, the enemy continued shelling civilian and military infrastructure, using tanks and artillery, near Pavlivka, Vuhledar, Volodymyrivka, Bohoyavlenka, Novoukrainka, and Novomykhailivka.

In the Zaporizhia direction, shelling was recorded near Dorozhnyanka, Charivny, Orikhov, Mala Tokmachka, Maly Shcherbaki, Olhivskyi, Stepovoy, Novosilka, and Zelene Pole.

In the South Buh direction, the occupiers continued their attacks on the areas of Mykolaiv, Oleksandrivka, Stepova Dolyna, Prybuzke, Lupareve, Lymany, Posad-Pokrovske, Novohryhorivka, Shyroke, Pervomaiske, Partyzanske, Kvitneve, Kiselyvka, Kobzartsi, Velyke Artakove, Yakovlivka, Andriivka, Potemkine, Olhyne, Trudolyubivka, Knyazunka, Dobrianka, and Topolyne. The enemy employed aviation to strike the area near Andriivka.

“In the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, the situation has undergone no significant changes. A threat of the enemy firing Kalibr-type sea-launched cruise missiles at infrastructure facilities deep in the territory of Ukraine remains in place,” added the General Staff.
