One person has been killed and several others injured in an overnight Russian missile attack in the Zhytomyr Region, west of Kyiv.

The deadly strike hit the city of Zviahel, where, according to authorities, a residential area was hit.

The Zviahel City Council wrote on Facebook: “As a result of another missile attack by the enemy, a residential area of the private sector of our community was struck overnight on June 9.

“According to preliminary information, six buildings were destroyed and dozens were damaged. Unfortunately, one person was killed.

“There are also injured people who are receiving all the necessary assistance.”

Russia launched yet another wave of missiles and kamikaze drones at cities across Ukraine overnight.

According to the Ukrainian military, four out of six cruise missiles and 10 out of 16 kamikaze drones were shot down.

Russia dramatically increased the tempo of its attacks against Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, particularly against Kyiv which was attacked at least every other night during May.

June has seen a decrease in overnight attacks but a Kyiv Post analysis found Russia still hit Ukraine with 400 air assaults in the first week of the month.
