A pro-war Russian TV star working for the state-run Channel One, Anna Prokofieva, was killed by a landmine explosion in Russia’s Belgorod region, near the border with Ukraine.

Prokofieva had been covering Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for Channel One since 2023.
Her death marks the fourth fatality among Russian war correspondents in recent days. On March 24, in Russian-occupied Luhansk, an alleged HIMARS strike killed Zvezda TV cameraman Andrei Panov, driver Alexander Sirkeli, and Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak.
On the same day, it was also reported, without further details, that Izvestia’s war correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, had died in Ukraine.
Moreover, TASS correspondent Mikhail Skuratov received shrapnel wounds while on assignment in the Sudzha district of Russia’s Kursk region. Skuratov recorded a video message from the operating table, which was shared on TASS’s Telegram channel.
In the video, he detailed his injuries to the shin and shoulder, emphasizing that his vital organs, bones, tendons, and major blood vessels were unharmed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in June 2024 that at least 30 Russian reporters had been killed since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.
