A total of 1,707 cultural heritage sites and 2,503 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged, including 513 that have been completely destroyed since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, officials said on Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna said the destruction reflects a deliberate strategy targeting Ukraine’s cultural identity.

“Russia is purposefully destroying Ukraine’s cultural heritage and attacking civilians. We document every such crime. Cultural heritage cannot be a target,” she said in a statement.
The remarks came after Russia launched hundreds of Shahed drones across Ukraine on Tuesday, damaging a UNESCO heritage site in Lviv in a rare daytime attack.
Maksym Kozytskyi, the regional head, said that the Bernadine monastery, a 16th century building, had suffered damages after a residential building nearby was set on fire.
A video posted by the Lviv authorities depicted a blaze burning through the roof of a nearby home.
The Ministry of Culture is preparing an official appeal to UNESCO to inform the organization about the damage following the latest wave of strikes.
Local authorities reported that the number of people injured in Lviv had risen to 22 following the drone attack.
Officials emphasized that assessments of structural damage and cultural losses are ongoing.
Ukrainian authorities continue to document destruction nationwide and call for international organizations to respond to what they describe as systematic attacks on cultural heritage during the full-scale war.
