Russian forces launched a massive drone attack against Odesa in the early hours of Sunday, April 5, injuring three people and causing extensive damage to residential infrastructure, local officials reported.
The strike targeted the city’s Khadzhybeyskyi district, where falling debris and drone impacts ignited fires across several apartment blocks and vehicles. According to Odesa City Military Administration Head Serhiy Lysak, two of the victims have been hospitalized, while a third is receiving outpatient care.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the blast wave shattered approximately 250 windows and damaged 25 balconies, with four balconies completely destroyed. While electricity and water supplies remain functional, gas services have been temporarily disconnected as more than 100 emergency workers clear debris from the site.
The assault was part of a larger nationwide offensive. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russia launched 93 drones of various types – including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas from locations in Bryansk, Kursk, and occupied Crimea. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 76 of the UAVs across the north, south, and east of the country.
The military confirmed 17 drone impacts across 10 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell in three other areas.
On Saturday, April 4, when a Russian FPV drone attack on a market in Nikopol killed five people and injured 25 others, including a 14-year-old girl currently in critical condition.

In total, Russia has launched nearly 380 drones against Ukrainian cities over the past 48 hours, targeting residential areas and critical infrastructure as the Kremlin continues its intensified aerial campaign.
