Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) says it destroyed a major Russian electronic intelligence facility in Krasnodar Krai overnight May 28-29, striking deep inside Russian territory in a bid to weaken Moscow’s recent strikes against Ukrainian cities.
As per their Telegram post, the operation overnight May 28-29 was carried out by special forces from its “Alpha” Center using long-range strike drones against an installation belonging to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). The target site, located in the Temryuk district near the Black Sea coast, was used for signals intelligence and to support missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.

“Such special operations are of strategic importance, because they weaken the ability of the Russian Federation to control the airspace, coordinate the work of air defense facilities and strike at Ukraine. The defeat of the electronic intelligence centers opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian drones and complicates Russia from protecting military facilities in the deep rear,” the ministry added.
In the statement, the SBU said the strike hit several buildings and antenna complexes that formed a part of an FSB signals intelligence hub responsible for intercepting communications and supporting Russian strikes against Ukraine. The facility possibly monitored Ukrainian military communications, tracked satellite traffic, and helped adjust drone and missile routes aimed at Ukrainian infrastructure.
Russia Says It Downed 419 Ukrainian Drones Overnight, Including 56 Bound for Moscow
The service hasn’t specified any exact number or types of drones used in order to preserve operational security, but has described the operation as “a precise response” to continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
As Ukrinform reported, the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit a number of important objects of the Russian territory, including Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions.
SBU drones hit Russian fuel hub
Earlier this month, SBU executed a precise long-range drone operation against the Vtorovo linear production and dispatch station in Russia’s Vladimir region, overnight into Sunday, May 24.
Conducted by the “Alpha” special operations unit, the precision strike ignited a 800-square-meter fire at the facility located roughly 200 kilometers east of Moscow.
The Vtorovo hub has been a primary source of fuel for the Russian network of strategic storage depots, and it was crucial for the Russian infrastructure, as it directly fed specialized pipeline rings that fulfilled the daily fuel requirements for Moscow’s three primary international airports – Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo.
Ukrainian intelligence assessments indicate that disrupting this transit loop complicates immediate fuel distribution networks for both commercial aviation and the Russian military transport.
