Multiple Fuel Terminals and Military Sites Struck in Drone Attack on Crimea

Multiple explosions have been reported overnight across the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula during an apparent drone attack.

Local residents reported explosions and air defense operations in Kerch, Bakhchysarai, Sevastopol, and Simferopol, as well as in the Nyzhniohirskyi, Krasnohvardiiske, and Krasnoperekopsk districts. Following the reports of aerial activity, Russian authorities temporarily suspended traffic on the Kerch Bridge.

Fires at fuel infrastructure

Independent monitoring groups analyzing satellite imagery reported several fires at fuel and logistical facilities in the region.

In Kerch, satellite data indicated an active fire at the Sea Fishing Port. Thermal signatures were primarily located on the premises of the “AEGAZ-Terminal,” a specialized complex for handling and transferring liquefied gas.

Approximately 600 meters west of the gas facility, additional fires were recorded at a fuel terminal owned by the “TES” company. According to ASTRA and Crimean Wind Telegram channels, this terminal is used for storing and transferring petroleum products, including mazut and diesel fuel, across the Kerch Strait.

The facility supplies fuel to vessels and services the “Crimea-Caucasus” ferry crossing. Satellite monitoring reported a 66-kilometer smoke plume extending from the port area.

Across the Kerch Strait, on the Russian mainland, a fire was also recorded at Port Kavkaz, located on the Chushka Spit. The port houses a fuel terminal and an oil depot.

Military and logistical targets

The drone strikes also targeted military infrastructure and transport routes. Satellite imagery showed thermal signatures near the Chonhar bridge, specifically at the junction where the railway bridge meets the northern shore. The bridge previously sustained damage from an attack on June 13.

In Kerch, a fire was recorded on the territory of Russian Military Unit 98546, which houses the 630th Separate Railway Track Battalion.

Furthermore, satellite data indicated a fire at Cape Zyuk, near the village of Kurortne on the Azov coast of the Kerch Peninsula. Monitoring channels noted that the cape serves as a deployment site for Russian air defense systems, including a radar station and S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile positions.

Recent strikes on Crimea

The June 21 strikes follow a series of targeted attacks on Russian logistics and infrastructure.

Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, reported that, on June 20, Ukrainian forces struck four gas compressor stations in occupied Crimea, located in Zhuravlivka, Aromatne, Kliuchi, and Lokhivka.

Additionally, Ukrainian forces reported striking an automobile bridge over the Henichesk Strait, a fuel truck, and logistical transport in the Kherson region, as well as a Russian Pantsir-S anti-aircraft system in the Zaporizhzhia region.

These operations coincided with an earlier drone attack on the Tyumen oil refinery in Western Siberia, located approximately 1,900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, where local residents reported explosions and smoke rising from the facility.
