The UK announced a new support package worth nearly £290 million ($381.6 million) for Ukraine’s recovery and energy security during the Ukraine Recovery Conference.
According to Suspilne on Thursday, speaking at the conference in Gdańsk, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said Britain would continue supporting Ukraine both during the war and throughout its reconstruction.

“A just and lasting peace is urgent and non-negotiable. But Ukraine needs long-term support both to overcome the conflict and to rebuild in the future,” Cooper said.
According to the UK government, the package will support Ukraine’s energy sector, businesses, education, and justice system.
The largest portion of the package, £210 million ($277 million), will fund an agreement between British nuclear fuel company Urenco and Ukraine’s state nuclear energy operator Energoatom.
The deal aims to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security by ensuring nuclear fuel supplies, as Russia continues targeting the country’s critical energy infrastructure.
British officials said the agreement would also support the UK economy, noting that Urenco employs more than 650 people in Britain, while its Chester facility supports more than 4,500 jobs across the country’s supply chain.
Support for justice reforms and reconstruction
The funding will also finance reforms to Ukraine’s justice system, including measures to strengthen accountability for war crimes, accelerate court proceedings, and combat corruption.
Ukraine Hints at 5 Hours Daily Blackouts in Peak Summer Season
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy said Ukraine’s long-term recovery would require more than military assistance.
“Ukraine’s victories on the battlefield must be matched by support for reconstruction,” Lammy said. “The UK stands with Ukraine as true partners in freedom.”
UK support continues
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the UK has provided £5.6 billion ($3.4 billion) in non-military assistance to Ukraine, according to the British government.
The latest package follows London’s continued efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience after repeated Russian attacks on power generation facilities and critical infrastructure, while also supporting the country’s long-term economic recovery and institutional reforms.
Following this, on June 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, saying that Britain has taken new decisions on support for Ukraine.
This is set to include sanctions on Russia’s shadow fleet and a possible role in restoring the damaged Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra which was damaged as a result of Russian attack.
The UK also announced a major military aid package of 150,000 drones and advanced air defense systems, including 350 air defense missiles and radars, which will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year, reinforcing its defenses against ongoing Russian strikes while supporting domestic military production.
