Kyiv’s Bouquet Festival Returns Amid Russia’s War With More Than 50 Cultural Events

The ninth Bouquet Kyiv Stage international festival of high arts will take place on Aug. 13-16, 2026, at the National Sanctuary of St. Sophia of Kyiv, bringing together music, contemporary art, theater, cinema, education and public discussions.

This year’s festival will be held under the theme “Armed with Beauty,” with organizers presenting more than 50 events over four days.

According to the organizers, the theme reflects Ukraine’s cultural response to Russia’s ongoing war and emphasizes the role of art in preserving memory, identity and hope.

“Bouquet Kyiv Stage is about a force that does not destroy. It is about memory that refuses to disappear and culture that sustains the future. Beauty is not the opposite of strength. True strength lies in protecting what has no weapons. Today, Ukraine is armed with beauty,” said Bouquet Kyiv Stage organizers.

Dubovyk exhibition to mark artist’s 95th anniversary

One of the festival’s central events will be the multimedia exhibition “The Triumph of Bouquet,” dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Dubovyk.

Dubovyk was born in Kyiv in 1931, during Joseph Stalin’s campaign of repression against Ukraine. His father, a poet, was executed in 1941.

The festival program will also feature “Liberated Music,” a research and cultural initiative focused on decolonizing Ukraine’s musical heritage.

Several tribute events will honor artists closely associated with the festival, including Nazgul Shukayeva, Yuliia Lazarevska and Oleg Pavlyuchenkov.

Ukrainian and international musicians to perform

The music program will bring together acclaimed performers from Ukraine and abroad.

Highlights include “Unison: Sylvestrov, Pärt, Kancheli,” performed by the Kyiv Chamber Choir, as well as concerts by the National Presidential Orchestra and the National Ensemble of Soloists Kyiv Camerata.

The program will also include an ethno-music project by Maria Kvitka and the Kontenta Youth Stage, which will present electroacoustic works by emerging Ukrainian composers and performers.

International guests will include Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Hofseth, German musician Sebastian Studnitzky, Polish pianist Radosław Sobczak, Israel’s Yogev Shetrit Trio, Bulgarian pianist Ivan Yanakov, and Georgian conductor and composer Nikoloz Rachveli.

Film, theater and public discussions

Bouquet Kyiv Stage 2026 will also present preview screenings of Ukrainian feature, documentary and short films.

The theater program will include scenes from Alla Zahaikevych’s opera “Brother Li Bai… Friend Du Fu…,” based on a play by Ukrainian poet and playwright Oleh Lysheha.

The festival will also host a series of panel discussions on cultural diplomacy, cultural genocide and contemporary Ukraine.

Among them will be “35 Years of Modern Independence: Lessons and Perspectives,” moderated by Kyiv Post Editor-in-Chief Bohdan Nahaylo.

The program will also include guided tours, children’s activities, events for senior audiences and the festival’s traditional Conversations “Under the Ash Tree.”

Organized by the Dom Master Klass Cultural Center, Bouquet Kyiv Stage has been held annually since 2018 as an international multidisciplinary festival promoting Ukrainian culture in Ukraine and abroad.
