Zelensky is set to meet Trump during his visit to the US at 9:30 a.m. local time as the US’s war in Iran becomes intertwined with Russia’s war in Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet US President Donald Trump at 9:30 a.m. local time in Washington DC (4:30 p.m. in Kyiv) on Tuesday, July 28.
Soon after landing, Zelensky said his top priority would be “anti-ballistic defense and strategic cooperation with America” – likely referring to the Patriot missile production and procurement, as well as the proposed Drone Deal.
The visit was preceded by an agreement paving the way for the drone deal signed during Washington’s NATO envoy Matthew Whitaker’s recent trip to Ukraine, as well as a discussion with a delegation from arms maker Raytheon.
Trump is also set to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after his meeting with Zelensky – the first meeting between the two after the war in Iran started on Feb. 28.
