On July 18, the Nova Khakovka district police department (Kherson region) confirmed an explosion at a warehouse understood to be a Russian ammunition depot used by the occupiers. A video of the explosion began to appear on social media.
This follows a large-scale explosion in the same area last week. On July 12, the Ukrainian operational command confirmed the destruction of a Russian warehouse containing ammunition.
“According to the results of firing missions by our rocket and artillery units, the enemy lost 52 militants, rocket launchers, a howitzer “Msta-B,” a mortar, seven units of armored and motor vehicles, and a warehouse with ammunition in Nova Kakhovka”, – the official message stated.
It is not the first time that a warehouse containing Russian ammunition has exploded in Russian occupied territories. The Ukrainian side reports that missiles from the HIMARS system caused the explosions. Ukraine received this new weapon from the U.S. in June, which allows the Ukrainian Army to shoot over longer distances.
Ukrainian intelligence is actively working on identifying Russian ammunition storage sites, military equipment, areas of weapons accumulation, and supply routes for advanced Russian units.
“It is necessary to destroy Russian resources right on the battlefield and to bring down the offensive pace of the Russian Federation,” – said a representative of Ukrainian intelligence, Vadym Skibytskyi.
He noted that the Russian side has already assessed the danger and begun moving its warehouses farther from the front line. As a result, the transportation time for Russian weapons has doubled, meaning they need to double the quantity of trucks to maintain the necessary delivery speed.
In recent weeks, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been consistently targeting Russian compounds in the Kherson region:
- On July 7, the Ukrainian Army operational command reported airstrikes on a concentration of Russian equipment in the Davydov Brod and Pravdyny area. Russia lost 12 soldiers, a tank, a Msta-B howitzer, an ammunition depot, and a drone;
- On July 8, a strike was reported in Novaya Kakhovk – several Russian militants were injured and equipment destroyed’
- On July 6, the Russian occupiers were destroyed in the Kherson railway station area. On the same day, a large-scale fire occurred at an oil depot in occupied Donetsk, which the Russians claimed was started by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
