In the early hours of Sunday, April 13, Russia launched a drone attack on Kyiv, releasing around 30 unmanned aerial vehicles. Air raid alerts were issued three times in the capital, lasting a total of four hours. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 19 drones over and near the city. Air defense operations also continued in other regions along the drones’ flight paths.
The city’s military administration reported no casualties or infrastructure damage within Kyiv as a result of the attack and expressed gratitude to Ukraine’s Defense Forces for protecting the capital’s skies.

Russia continues to systematically strike Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, disregarding international humanitarian law. During night-time attacks, drones and missiles frequently hit residential buildings, energy facilities, hospitals, schools, and transportation infrastructure.
These actions bear the hallmarks of terror against the civilian population and violate the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit targeting objects not related to military operations. Ukraine and its international partners consistently document these crimes and are submitting evidence for future prosecution.
The most recent large-scale Russian attack took place on the night of April 6, when Russia launched 23 missiles and 109 drones. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 13 missiles and 40 Shahed drones, while 53 decoy UAVs were lost in flight. Mykolaiv, Sumy, and several other regions came under attack, while ballistic missiles struck Kyiv, causing fires in three districts. One person was killed and three others were injured.
