Explosions were heard over Qatar’s capital of Doha as Iranian missiles targeted Al Udeid Air Base, home to over 8,000 US citizens and the largest military base in the Middle East.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Core (IGRC) said in a statement Sunday, “As we have repeatedly stated, the number, dispersion, and extent of US military bases in the region are not a point of strength, but rather have doubled their vulnerability,” according to Iran International News Agency, an exiled independent news platform.
Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and several other Gulf States condemned the strikes, and Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, and other states have also closed their airspace, according to reporting from the New York Times.
This developing news story will be updated as more information becomes available.
