A worldwide outage of Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet disrupted communications for users across several continents on Monday, including Ukrainian troops along the front line.
Monitoring site Downdetector reported more than 50,000 complaints in the United States alone after disruptions began shortly after 7 a.m. on Sept. 15. Similar outages were logged across Europe, Asia and other regions.

Ukraine’s Forces, which rely heavily on Starlink for battlefield connectivity, said units across the front experienced interruptions starting at 7:28 a.m. local time.
“Starlink went down again along the entire frontline,” commander Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign “Madyar,” wrote on Telegram.
He later updated that by 8:02 a.m. reports of partial restoration were already coming in.
SpaceX confirmed it was investigating the cause but did not provide further details.
Starlink has been a critical tool for Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion, providing resilient internet links where conventional infrastructure is destroyed or jammed. The Ukrainian military relies heavily on the service for real-time coordination, reconnaissance, and drone operations.
Monday’s outage, the second global disruption in recent weeks.
A similar outage on July 24 temporarily knocked out connectivity for Ukrainian forces across the entire front line. Service was restored after about two and a half hours.
