As Russian strikes continued to batter the Dnipropetrovsk region, Dnipro hosted its first prayer breakfast for Ukraine’s frontline territories on Thursday, aimed at strengthening community bonds in a city living under constant threat.

According to a Telegram post from Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha, the gathering adapted an American tradition, underscoring how faith and community rituals have become tools of resilience for citizens across the front line.

Nearly 400 participants from 10 frontline regions took part, including representatives of different religious denominations, the military, law enforcement, local authorities, educators, medical workers, athletes, and youth.

“After all, all our thoughts are about one thing,” Hanzha said, “that a guardian angel protects the defenders, that all of our people return home, that children no longer flinch at explosions, and that Ukraine and all its residents have a happy and peaceful future.”

“With faith in our hearts and resilience, we overcome the challenges of war,” he added, thanking everyone who stands with Ukraine “through both prayers and daily deeds,” with special recognition for Ukraine’s defenders.

The event comes amid a wave of Russian strikes across five districts of Dnipropetrovsk region that has killed at least five people and injured at least 24 since Tuesday.
