A 26-year-old woman was killed and a 39-year-old man injured during a Russian drone attack on Odesa overnight, regional governor Oleh Kiper reported.

According to Kiper on Monday, Russia targeted Odesa Region with attack drones, striking the coastline near the city.

A woman died as a result of the attack, while an injured man received medical assistance, Kiper said.

Emergency services were deployed to the scene, and authorities were working to determine whether additional casualties had occurred.

Local Odesa Telegram channels reported that the woman was struck by shrapnel near Otrada Beach, with witnesses saying she was found unconscious and covered in injuries before emergency crews arrived.

Officials later confirmed that the 26-year-old victim died at the scene.

Continued attacks

Odesa and the surrounding region have remained frequent targets of Russian drone and missile strikes throughout the full-scale invasion.

Russian attacks primarily target port infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian areas along Ukraine’s Black Sea coast.

In recent months, Russia has intensified the use of Shahed-type drones against Ukrainian cities, often launching overnight attacks aimed at overwhelming air defenses.

Ukrainian officials have warned that falling debris and shrapnel from intercepted drones pose a serious threat to civilians, particularly in densely populated urban areas and along Odesa’s coast.
