Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles in the early hours of Thursday, triggering explosions and fires in two districts of the Ukrainian capital.
Air-raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and several other regions due to the threat of Russian ballistic weapons, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Ukraine’s Air Force warned that missiles were heading toward the capital. Shortly after 1 a.m., it reported that four ballistic missiles were flying toward Kyiv.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported impacts in the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
Warehouse facilities were struck in Sviatoshynskyi district, where a fire broke out.
In Darnytskyi district, missile debris initially fell on non-residential property. Klitschko later reported a separate impact on a non-residential building. A fire also erupted in the area.
Emergency services were dispatched to the affected locations.
At 1:29 a.m., the Air Force announced that the immediate ballistic missile threat had ended.
