Russian forces shelled two districts in the southern city of Kherson on Saturday morning, July 25, killing one person and severely injuring two others.

According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Russian artillery targeted the city’s central and Korabelny districts. The shelling struck a multi-story apartment building, killing a 47-year-old man at the scene.

Medical personnel are currently treating the two severely injured residents.

Prokudin reported that the artillery fire caused widespread structural damage across the targeted areas. The strikes damaged three multi-story apartment buildings, five private residential houses, an educational institution, a garage, and a vehicle.

Overnight attack on Ukraine

The morning artillery strike on Kherson followed a massive overnight drone and missile barrage across multiple Ukrainian regions.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 157 attack drones – including Shahed, Herbera, and Italmas models, alongside Parodiya decoys – as well as two Kh-59/69 guided aviation missiles early Saturday morning, July 25.

Air defense units intercepted 127 drones and one Kh-59/69 missile across northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine. According to the Air Force, 26 drones struck nine different locations, while falling debris from intercepted targets was recorded at four sites.

In the central Poltava region, Russian drones targeted fuel and emergency infrastructure. Vitalii Diakivnych, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that the strikes hit four gas stations and a fire station building. Regional authorities reported no casualties resulting from the Poltava strikes despite the structural damage.
