President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine held a meeting with Haluk Bayraktar, CEO of Turkey’s Baykar Makina, an acclaimed strike UAV manufacturer.

The parties discussed cooperation in the defense sector, while the head of state conferred Bayraktar with the Order of Merit, 1st degree, Ukrinform reports, citing the president’s press service.

It is noted that during the meeting, the interlocutors focused id on further cooperation between Ukraine and the Turkish company to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces.

In addition, the parties discussed the details of the construction of the Baikar plant in Ukraine and the production of new products using Ukrainian parts.

“Zelensky highly appreciated the contribution of Haluk Bayraktar and his company to boosting the power of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the fight against the aggressor,” the report reads.

“Everyone in Ukraine knows what Bayraktar is, knows your company. Thank you, thank you to President Erdogan for your support and the support of the citizens of Turkey in this war against Russian aggression,” Zelenskyysaid.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Turkey’s Baykar Makina intends to build a factory in Ukraine for the production of Bayraktar TB2 strike drones, as well as to produce Bayraktar Akıncı and Bayraktar Kizilelma, their latest model.
