China has never made lethal weapons available to either side during this war, said ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Friday, according to Sky News.

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday, Zelensky said that Kyiv has obtained preliminary intelligence indicating that China is supplying weapons to Russia.

“We finally received information that China is supplying weapons to the Russian Federation,” he said.

Zelensky specified that Ukrainian intelligence services, including the Security Service, had gathered information on gunpowder and artillery allegedly connected to China. He added that more detailed findings would be shared next week.

Zelensky also claimed that “representatives of China are engaged in the production of some weapons on the territory of Russia.”

He did not clarify whether the alleged supplies included artillery shells or full weapons systems.

The Ukrainian president’s statement comes a week after he announced that two Chinese nationals had been captured while fighting alongside Russian troops.

Following that announcement, Zelensky claimed that over 150 Chinese nationals are currently serving in the Russian Armed Forces – a statement that Beijing also rebuffed, calling it “irresponsible remarks.”

According to Kyiv, the men claimed they joined voluntarily and denied any official involvement from Beijing, saying they had been misled with promises that they would not be sent to the front lines.
