A massive Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa overnight killed one person, injured at least 14 others, and destroyed homes and public buildings, Ukrainian authorities said Friday, June 20.
According to preliminary findings, at least 10 drones targeted the city, striking residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure.

One of the buildings hit – a four-story residential block – collapsed entirely after catching fire, with fears that people may still be trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations are ongoing.
Among the injured are three emergency workers, regional officials said.
The Odesa regional prosecutor’s office has opened a pre-trial investigation into suspected war crimes under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine’s criminal code. Investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are leading the case.
The drone strikes damaged a 23-story apartment building, several multi-story residential blocks, an educational institution, shops, outbuildings, and private cars, officials said. In coastal areas, recreational facilities were also hit by the blast wave from a downed drone.
Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov shared photos of the aftermath, showing scorched buildings and debris-strewn streets.
Friday’s strike is part of a growing pattern of drone and missile attacks on the city. On June 17, a similar assault killed two people and wounded 19. That earlier attack struck homes, a kindergarten, an inclusive education center, and garages, igniting fires across multiple neighborhoods.
