As of 3 a.m. Kyiv time on Thursday, four people were reported injured in the attacks.
The latest assault followed a wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine on Wednesday that left seven people dead, among them two children, and triggered widespread power outages.
“Most regions of Ukraine were targeted,” said Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk, adding that it shows “a systematic attempt by the enemy to destroy our energy system before winter.”
Hrynchuk added that Russian forces were also attacking repair crews working to restore damaged power facilities from the previous night’s attack.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has said its forces had targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian sites.
Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said Hrynchuk spoke during the day to her US counterpart Chris Wright, describing the aftermath of the attack and the country’s need for additional equipment.
On Wednesday morning, Russian forces launched a combined drone and missile attack strike on Kyiv, with residential buildings hit in several districts. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that two people were killed and five injured, including a two-year-old child.

“There was an explosion, and within a moment, I started to feel pain on my face. I immediately started screaming. When I swiped my face, I thought I felt tears on my hand, but I was bleeding,” Nadiia Zinchuk, a 24-year-old shop employee, told Reuters near a building hit in Kyiv.
According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), in the Dniprovskyi district, a residential building was hit, sparking a fire on the sixth floor of a 16-story apartment block. Ten people were rescued and brought to safety. Rescuers later discovered the bodies of two people killed in the attack.
Klitschko later clarified that the number of victims had risen to 19, including five children.
