G7 to Meet Zelensky as Trump Signals Optimism for Ukraine Peace Push

G7 leaders will meet President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Evian summit as US President Donald Trump signals optimism that diplomacy could also move forward on Ukraine after his Iran breakthrough. European leaders are expected to press Trump to keep pressure on Moscow and avoid pushing Kyiv toward concessions, while Zelensky urges a decisive response to Russia’s latest deadly strikes.

On Oct. 10, however, dozens of Ukrainian combat UAVs targeted the Khanskaya Airfield in a joint operation by Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Khanskaya Airfield houses the 272nd Polotsk Aviation Training Base, part of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School. This facility has been used by Russian forces to refuel aircraft and launch missile and bomb attacks on Ukrainian Defense Forces and civilian settlements.
