Israeli troops have begun “limited and targeted” ground operations against Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on X.

According to the IDF, the operations are aimed at strengthening the forward defense area along Israel’s northern border.

The military said the activity forms part of broader defensive measures intended to establish and reinforce what it described as a forward defensive posture.

These efforts include dismantling militant infrastructure and targeting Hezbollah fighters operating in the area, the IDF said.

The military added that the operations are meant to create an additional layer of security for residents of northern Israel.
