Russian forces struck Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district with guided aerial bombs in the early hours of Saturday,  injuring at least five people and leaving others feared trapped beneath the rubble of a residential building, city officials said.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the attack hit the city’s Kholodnohirskyi district.

“Guided aerial bombs hit the Kholodnohirskyi district of the city,” Terekhov wrote on social media.

He later said one of the strikes hit a two-story apartment building.

“Four people may be under the rubble. At this moment, five people are known to have been injured,” Terekhov said.

Search and rescue efforts were ongoing, and the number of casualties could change.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has faced repeated Russian attacks throughout the full-scale war, including strikes with guided aerial bombs, missiles and drones targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
