UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Russia’s massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv, warning that strikes against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law and must stop immediately.

The condemnation followed one of Moscow’s deadliest aerial assaults on the Ukrainian capital this year. Russia launched 74 missiles and nearly 500 strike drones, killing at least 27 people and wounding dozens more as explosions tore through residential high-rises, hotels and critical utility networks.

“Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure wherever they occur are a clear violation of international humanitarian law,” Guterres’s spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said.
