Russian forces have continued strikes on civilian infrastructure across multiple regions of Ukraine, resulting in fatalities and injuries, according to regional authorities.

Casualties in Sumy

The National Police of Ukraine reported that a 33-year-old woman and her 5-year-old daughter, who were killed during a Russian guided aerial bomb strike on the northeastern city of Sumy on July 3, were the family members of a serving police officer.

Oleh Kashperuk, head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region, stated on Saturday that the victims were the wife and child of an officer currently serving in the region’s special police battalion.

According to Kashperuk, the couple’s elder 13-year-old daughter was injured in the same strike and remains hospitalized for medical treatment.

Ongoing strikes in Kherson, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia

Attacks continued into Saturday morning, July 4, affecting several other regions across the country.

In the southern Kherson region, a 66-year-old woman was injured during an artillery strike on the settlement of Bilozerka at approximately 9:20 a.m. local time.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that the woman sustained a mine-explosive trauma, a concussion, and shrapnel injuries to her back and leg. She has been hospitalized for further medical care.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, a Russian drone strike targeted the Kyivskyi district.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that a 45-year-old woman was injured in the attack and is receiving necessary medical assistance.

Background to the weekend attacks

These incidents follow a concentrated series of strikes that began late Friday, July 3. Russian forces launched guided aerial bombs and missiles at civilian infrastructure in both the Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. local time on Friday, guided aerial bombs struck a residential area in Zaporizhzhia, damaging a two-story building. Eight individuals sustained injuries, including a 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, two women, and four men. All affected individuals received medical assistance following the strike.

Separately, a Russian missile strike targeted civilian infrastructure in the southern Odesa region on Friday night. Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that the strike hit a food storage warehouse, sparking a fire that was subsequently extinguished by rescue services.

Two people were injured in the incident, and nearby warehouse facilities sustained structural damage.
