The FlyEye drone, developed by Poland’s Flytronic, was used by the 26th Separate Artillery Brigade to identify and guide a HIMARS missile strike in the Bakhmut sector on Friday, the brigade’s press service said.
The HIMARS strike hit an ammunition storage site, which then set off a second explosion that destroyed the weapons stockpile and an artillery system, the statement said.

A video posted online shows the drone being readied for launch and take off, followed by the HIMARS being fired and several explosions.
The video ends with the brigade expressing its appreciation for the Polish drone.
“For the soldiers of the 26th Separate Artillery Brigade, there is no greater joy than effectively striking enemy targets,” the press service said, as reported by Ukraine’s state-backed United24 Media service.
It also highlighted the “coordinated work of aerial reconnaissance units and rocket artillery,” which it said enables Ukraine to deliver “powerful results on the battlefield.”
Last year, the Polish defense company WB Group, which owns Flytronic, expanded FlyEye production to Ukraine in response to increased demand for reconnaissance drones during Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The 11-kilogram reconnaissance drone can be carried by two soldiers, launched by hand, and prepared for flight in approximately 11 minutes. It has an operational range of up to 50 kilometers.
