Ukraine’s air defenses successfully thwarted a large overnight Russian missile attack on Kyiv, authorities have said.

Moscow’s forces used TU-95MS strategic aviation aircraft to launch a barrage of X-101/555/55 cruise missiles, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, all of which were intercepted.

In total, up to eight air targets were observed locally The Air Forces destroyed four X-101/x-55/x-555 cruise missiles in the central and northern regions. The remaining air targets are presumably false.

 

"At this moment, there have been no reported casualties or damage in Kyiv. The Air Force will release official information regarding the number and types of downed aerial targets after data summarization." Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv City Military Administration reported via Telegram.

"Please take care of yourself and your family, and pay attention to air alarm signals. Also, remember to express gratitude to the soldiers of the air defence, defence, and aviation forces. We are determined to win!" he added.

Later, Ruslan Kravchenko, the Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that ten private houses were damaged and two people were injured due to falling fragments of downed missiles in the Kyiv region.

Reports from monitoring channels indicated that the missiles crossed into Ukrainian airspace at approximately 4 a.m.
