A Ukrainian army commander-in-chief has revealed the existence of a secret Ukrainian-American military headquarters in Germany.

According to General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the facility in the city of Wiesbaden has become a “secret weapon” in coordinating operations against Russia, including war games, weapon requests and strategic planning in collaboration with the U.S.

The facility was established in the summer of 2022 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine to assess the Ukrainian military’s needs based on operational plans.

Posting on social media, Zaluzhnyi said: “This headquarters has truly become our and partners’ secret weapon in planning operations.

“The headquarters is where operations were planned, war simulations were held, and the Ukrainian armed forces’ needs were evaluated in order to send the relevant information to Washington and European capitals.”

He added that, although a center coordinating the delivery of military aid to Ukraine had been set up at the U.S. European Command HQ in Stuttgart in April 2022, it became clear that a joint HQ was needed.

Zaluzhnyi continued: “Thanks to the support of Great Britain, this idea was implemented. And Wiesbaden received a new life.

“The headquarters planned operations, conducted war games, formulated requirements for the Armed Forces, and passed them on to Washington and European capitals.”

Ukraine Secures Release of Seven Civilians from Russian Captivity

Ukraine has secured the release of seven civilians who had been illegally detained by Russia since 2022.

In late March, The New York Times reported on the deepening involvement of the U.S. in Ukrainian military operations, including intelligence-sharing and joint planning for counter-offensives in regions such as Kharkiv and Kherson.

This partnership has also involved American military and CIA agents aiding Ukraine in targeting Russian military positions.

However, according to The New York Times, President Donald Trump has begun to limit some aspects of U.S. cooperation with Ukraine, including in Wiesbaden, as he seeks to de-escalate the conflict with Russia.
