“Unfortunately, as a result of a cynical attack by Russians on a bus with civilians, there are dead,” the administration said.
The people on the bus targeted by Russian forces were being evacuated from the city of Bilopillia. The identities of some of the victims are still being confirmed, but most are elderly women. Those injured were taken to a hospital in Sumy.
In a Facebook post, the head of the Bilopillia community said this day would go down in the town’s history as a “Black Saturday.”
“Investigation teams from the police are working at the scene of the tragedy. Law enforcement officers are documenting the aftermath of the strike, collecting evidence, and recording every trace of the crime — all to ensure that every perpetrator is identified and brought to justice”.
