Kurganpribor is a leading Russian military manufacturer, sanctioned by the US and EU for producing missile and bomb components for the war in Ukraine.
Russian news website Oblast 45 and the Baza Telegram channel reported that the attack was linked to Kondratyev’s “personal activities.”
Russian media, citing sources close to the investigation, reported that the assailant could be a co-worker angered by salary cuts implemented by Kondratyev, or a neighbor.
The attack took place in the city of Kurgan, near Russia’s border with Kazakhstan. So far, police have not tracked down the assailant.
Kyiv has previously targeted Russian officials involved in the invasion of Ukraine but has not been connected to the attack on Kondratyev.
