Russian forces launched a drone strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region on Monday morning, July 7, injuring at least 10 people and damaging civilian infrastructure, including a university building, according to local officials.
The attack began shortly after 10:00 a.m. when the Ukrainian Air Force issued an alert about incoming attack drones targeting Zaporizhzhia and the wider area. Minutes later, explosions were reported across the city.

“The enemy is attacking Zaporizhzhia with drones. There are preliminary reports of damage and injuries. Stay in safe locations until the all-clear,” said Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
In an updated statement, Fedorov confirmed that at least ten people had been injured in the strike, though the number could rise as the situation develops.
“The attack is ongoing. Stay in shelters,” he added.
Photos shared from the scene show flames engulfing the roof of a university building damaged in the attack.
The assault on Zaporizhzhia followed an overnight wave of Russian drone strikes that heavily targeted Kharkiv, Odesa, and Kyiv.
In Kharkiv, more than 20 civilians were wounded when Shahed drones struck residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure in the early hours of July 7. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov, the Shevchenkivskyi and Slobidskyi districts were hit, damaging a kindergarten and multiple residential buildings.

Synehubov reported at least 23 people injured, including three children. Three people, among them a child, were hospitalized in moderate condition. Terekhov later confirmed the total number of injured in Kharkiv had risen to 27.
In Odesa, drones also hit civilian targets despite air defense efforts. The head of the Odesa Regional Administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed one person was killed, with service stations and vehicles among the damaged infrastructure.
Kyiv was also among the targets of overnight drone attacks, though no major damage or casualties were immediately reported. Emergency crews continue working at the affected sites across the country.
