Swarmer, known for developing advanced battlefield AI products, has announced a $15m Series A round of financing – the single-largest investment in a Ukrainian defense tech company since the start of the war.
Series A funding is the first major round of institutional investment that enables a startup to scale its operations, expand its market reach, and strengthen its product after initial seed funding, previous funds used to develop and test the idea.

The round is led by Broadband Capital Investments, along with the participation of R-G.AI, D3 Ventures, Green Flag Ventures, Radius Capital, Network VC, and UA1 VC.
The news was announced on a Swarmer LinkedIn post during Defense Tech Valley 2025, Ukraine’s largest defense tech event.
Commenting on the news, Brave1 Head of Investor Relations & Deputy Head of Partnerships and International Cooperation Artem Moroz called it “the largest publicly announced investment in Ukrainian defense tech to date” on a separate LinkedIn post.
Swarmer develops software systems that allow unmanned vehicles to act autonomously and work together in large teams. Its systems are centered on the use of ethical AI that requires the intervention of humans to make all life-or-death decisions, while also allowing computers to process large quantities of information and react to the rapidly changing environment in split seconds, the press release says.

Swarmer develops solutions for managing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), the company’s website says its products include:
- Trident OS, an OS designed to safeguard data storage, online status updates, and video streaming from UAV to ensure mission reliability across the swarm
- MINAS, AI-powered multi-unit collaborative autonomy in denied environments for seamless integration of multiple UAVs per operator
- STYX, a multi-level solution for a new generation of command-and-control (C2) system, including the ability to manage diverse units with collaborative autonomy.
Swarmer offers a software-only solution by leveraging data from over 82,000 of its own combat missions and millions more flown by others. The system is trained to replicate top-pilot performance and make precise tactical decisions in real time.
Swarmer has successfully demonstrated swarms of up to 25 drones working together in GNSS-denied environments. It soon plans to demonstrate combined-arms operations involving 100+ drones of various kinds, working in concert to seamlessly integrate aerial, ground and waterborne drones, and stationary launchers into a single swarm that functions as one unit, the press release says.
“Our software has proven itself in live combat across tens of thousands of missions,” the press release quoted Swarmer founder and CEO Serhii Kupriienko.
“This funding enables us to scale our operations and offer advanced swarming capabilities to every unmanned vehicle, in Ukraine and across NATO-aligned nations. Western democracies should be able to deploy as many drones and robots as they can produce – without being constrained by the number of trained pilots.”
Ukraine has been at the forefront of drone warfare, serving as the testing ground for the most innovative and ground-breaking battlefield technologies. Its defense industry has rapidly expanded in response to the unprecedented scale of the conflict:
According to Swarmer’s press release, in 2025 alone, Ukraine is slated to deploy close to 5,000,000 drones on active combat duties.
“Ukrainian developers are creating solutions that have no analogues and are transforming the battlefield itself… After all, every investment in Ukrainian defense tech is a commitment to the future of global security,” the press release quoted Mykhailo Fedorov, the First Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Swarmer technology will still be useful even if Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine ends tomorrow, NBU Deputy Governor Sergiy Nikolaychuk said previously. Beyond defense applications, Swarmer’s hardware-agnostic platform can transform civilian markets from precision agriculture and emergency response to infrastructure inspections and environmental monitoring, the press release says.
