Kyiv welcomes “positive signals” from the United States regarding a potential transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles, with technical coordination between the two countries already underway, a Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.
As per RBC-Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, speaking at a briefing, said Kyiv had requested Tomahawk missiles earlier during the administration of President Joe Biden but the White House repeatedly denied those requests.

“Right now, there is no ‘no’ response,” Tykhyi said. “Instead, there is a very detailed and active discussion about the possibility of providing these missiles.”
He added that current talks between Ukrainian and US teams are focused on the technical aspects of how the missiles could be used and delivered: “The Ukrainian and American teams are working to coordinate all these details, discussing all the nuances regarding in what forms and configurations the missiles can be provided to Ukraine.”
The discussions come after US President Donald Trump said he has “practically decided” to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, though he noted that several questions remain about the move.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said he hopes the delivery of US long-range Tomahawk missiles will pressure Russia to engage in peace negotiations.
Russia condemned the potential transfer, calling it a severe blow to Moscow’s relations with Washington. Speaking in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Oct. 10, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said Russia plans to strengthen its air defense systems in response to reports that the US will send Tomahawks to Ukraine.
