Lviv welcomed the United Kingdom’s new ambassador to Ukraine, Neil Crompton, Mayor Andriy Sadovy said.

In a post published on Friday, Feb. 13, Sadovy said Crompton began his diplomatic mission late last year and is already actively working with Ukrainian communities.

Sadovy also noted that the United Kingdom, together with its allies, announced one of the largest recent support packages – $35 billion for the procurement of military equipment. Britain on Thursday also pledged hundreds of millions of dollars in air defenses for Ukraine to help stave off Russian attacks on the country’s power and heating systems. London will also send Ukraine 1,000 British-made lightweight missiles worth more than $500 million to Kyiv.

Sadovy described the decision as significant and added that additional cooperation initiatives involving Lviv and the United Kingdom are underway but could not be disclosed for security reasons.

“In these days, Britain has become even closer to Lviv,” Sadovy wrote.

Crompton has served as the United Kingdom’s ambassador to Ukraine since November 2025, when he succeeded Martin Harris. He presented his credentials to President Volodymyr Zelensky on Nov. 5, 2025.

Prior to his appointment in Kyiv, Crompton was the UK ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2020 to 2025. His mandate in Ukraine includes strengthening defense, diplomatic and economic cooperation, including within the framework of the so-called “Centenary Partnership” between the two countries.
