Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has detained a 59-year-old entrepreneur recruited by Russia’s FSB, who under the guise of fulfilling defense contracts, was helping plan attacks on Kyiv.
The suspect, who produced armored glass for vehicles used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reportedly mapped Ukrainian defense companies on Google Maps to identify potential targets for Russian airstrikes.

Cyber specialists say he was helping prepare a series of attacks on firms that repair and modernize military transport.
“To identify locations, he toured companies under the pretext of negotiating armored glass contracts,” SBU said in a statement on Telegram on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
“In reality, he marked workshops and production sites for Russian intelligence.”
Investigators said the man planned to secretly install miniature cameras with remote access at these sites, allowing Russian operatives to monitor the aftermath of strikes.
SBU officers apprehended the suspect at his home, documenting his contacts with the FSB. During searches, authorities seized his smartphone, computers, and contracts tied to the targeted companies.
The investigation revealed that the entrepreneur had first drawn Russian attention by posting pro-Kremlin comments in Telegram chats.
He has been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code for high treason during martial law. He is in custody without the possibility of bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
